Six NTGent performances on international tour this autumn| 19 August 2022
NTGent's programme for the 22-23 season is strikingly Ghentian, as local newspaper Het Nieuwsblad noted immediately after the presentation at the end of June. Even so, the Ghent city theatre is more than ever active internationally.
Early July saw the world premiere of the theatre trilogy The Sorrows of Belgium in Poznan, Poland. In the same month the latest NTGent-production ONE SONG - Histoire(s) du Théâtre IV had its world premiere at the prestigious Festival d'Avignon with great success. This autumn, no less than six NTGent productions go on tour.
🌎 ONE SONG - Histoire(s) du Théâtre IV, a creation by Miet Warlop, continues its triumphant march through France, playing at the end of September at the Actoral festival in Marseille (FR), and later this autumn in Douai/Arras (FR), Berlin (GER) and Rotterdam (NL).
🌎 The play Grief & Beauty, "a universal tale about life and death" (Volkskrant *****), has been touring since its world premiere in Ghent in September 2021. After earlier passages in the Netherlands, France and Germany, Grief & Beauty, a creation by artistic director Milo Rau, can be seen in Italy (Romaeuropa Festival, Prato and Genova) from 8 October.
🌎 "Looking for a way out of climate depression with the help of Depeche Mode and aerobics", that's what Luanda Casella does in Ferox Tempus - Terror at its best. After being selected for Theater aan Zee (Ostend, BE) and Theater Spektakel in Zürich (SWI), "the necessary theatre experience" (De Morgen ***) can also be seen in Basel (SWI) this autumn.
🌎 The third and last part of the trilogy by Luk Perceval and NTGent, RED - The Sorrows of Belgium III: Holy War, will visit no less than four countries in the coming months, with performances in Ghent (BE), Maubeuge (FR), Utrecht (NL) and Sankt Pölten (AUS).
🌎 The performance The Interrogation, an intriguing monologue written by French author Édouard Louis and Milo Rau, will also go on tour. After performances in Amsterdam and Paris, another European capital Zagreb (CRO) follows at the end of September.
🌎 House artist Luanda Casella is not only travelling to Switzerland this autumn (see above). Her solo performance Short of Lying can also be seen in Dublin (IRE) in October.
