NTGent is an open house, accessible to everyone.

In order to be able to offer you the best service, we ask you to always provide all relevant information when booking your tickets. Before the show begins, during the break and when leaving the auditorium and the building, you can approach the staff with your questions and for any help.

People who want to make use of our accessibility services are requested to order their tickets by telephone, email or at the office of Tickets Gent. Please state clearly which service you would like to use, so that we can provide you with customised service.

Deaf and hard of hearing

Use our FM hearing loop, or come to one of our performances made accessible by surtitles...

Use our FM hearing loop, or come to one of our performances made accessible by surtitles, interpreters of Flemish Sign Language and/or emoti-chairs.

In both our Schouwburg, in Minnemeers and in Arca, we have an FM loop. A loop allows you to hear the scene sound directly in your ear. Those who wear hearing aids (with T-stands) can use an individual neck loop that connects to an FM receiver. For those who are hard of hearing but do not wear a hearing aid, we connect ordinary headphones to this FM receiver.

Are you hard of hearing (and do you or do you not have a hearing aid with T-stand) and do you want to use the FM loop during one of our performances in NTGent Minnemeers or NTGent Schouwburg? Then be sure to mention this when you reserve your tickets, so that we can reserve an FM receiver with an individual neck loop or headphones for you!

Would you like to test in advance whether you can connect your hearing aid with T-stand to our FM loop? Then contact us using the details below. Please note that a telecoil needs to be included and installed before you can use it, for this you can contact the supplier of your hearing device or your audiologist. If, after attending a performance, you find that the loop is not working properly, please let us know. Our FM loops were purchased with the support of Cera.

In addition, with the help of our theater tablet, we are taking a big step forward in making our performances accessible to those who are deaf or hard of hearing. We do this by offering continuous Dutch-language surtitles (which may also mention auditory elements), and pre-recorded Flemish Sign Language interpreters via tablets. You are not limited in your choice of a particular performance date, as is the case when we work with Flemish Sign Language interpreters who are live on stage once: the tablets are available on every date when a particular production is on. The range of performances where we can offer the tablets will grow steadily with our repertoire. You can find more information under the heading 'the theater tablet'.

Every season we also see if we can make additional productions accessible through open surtitles (visible in the scene image), live interpreters of Flemish Sign Language on stage and/or feeler chairs. The latter are cushions placed on chairs that convert sound into vibrations so that you can feel music and other sounds. If this offer applies, we will announce it here as well as on the production pages of the relevant performances on our website.

Finally: the activities of Public Outreach can also be requested with a ring guide and/or Flemish Sign Language interpreter. It would be best to contact us for further details.
