His novels have brought him international fame. De opgang, a novel about the Second World War and a house in Ghent, will be appearing this autumn. Behoud de Begeerte has taken the opportunity of Hertmans’ birthday to focus on the many facets of his writing career, with guests including Revue Blanche and Sachli Gholamalizad. Besides a prominent role for De opgang, we will also take the time to explore Hertmans’ poetry in a selection by his close friend Peter Verhelst.
