When the bleeding stops...

How can we address the silence and taboo that seems to engulf menopause in Western society? After suffering an injury five years ago, Gunnarsdóttir was forced to reconsider her relationship with dance and the body. This opened her eyes to the silence around menopause and her own lack of knowledge on the subject. The performance dives deep into the many layers of female experience associated with menopause and is an invitation into a world of vulnerability, shame, empathy and humour.
When the Bleeding Stops is part of As a Mother, ... , a two-part programme that makes us reflect on our ideas and ideals around motherhood.
