WANT TO TAKE THE CAR ANYWAY?
If you come to Ghent by car anyway, there's some need-to-know stuff.
LOW-EMISSION ZONE
Since 2020, the Ghent city centre is a low-emission zone (LEZ). All of our locations fall within that zone. On this website you can check if your car is allowed the LEZ.
Foreign number plates must be registered anyway. Registration is done via this page.
ROAD WORKS
Road works are regularly carried out in Ghent. It is a good idea to check all work zones on this site before getting into your car.
CIRCULATION PLAN
Ghent has had a circulation plan in place since April 2017 that aims to reduce car traffic in the city centre. Most route planners now take this into account.
PARK & RIDES AND UNDERGROUND CAR PARKS
The dynamic LED signs guide you to the various park-and-rides outside the city's R40 ring road, and indicate how to drive to the underground car parks in the city centre. Those car parks can be found in different zones: Korenmarkt, Vrijdagmarkt, Zuid-Reep, and Veldstraat.
Leave your car at one of the many park-and-rides (P+R) outside the low-emission zone, and head towards the city centre using public transport.
