Mission

NTGent is a dynamic city theatre that challenges, inspires and engages a diverse audience. Through high-profile productions and theatre as a catalyst for social debate, NTGent combines a Ghent-based perspective with an international reach. Its three artistic focal points – Art & New Technology, Art, Care & Rituals, and Art & the City – form the foundation of a multifaceted creative house of makers where generations of artists collaborate.

NTGent is constantly exploring new forms of theatre, tackling major themes and touring with productions throughout Flanders and the world. As a sustainable and accessible theatre, firmly rooted in the city with venues at the KNS and Minnemeers, NTGent plays a leading role in the performing arts landscape. Here, art is seen as a unifying, transformative and healing force.

The artistic directors – Yves Degryse and Barbara Raes – embody a shared and caring leadership style, alongside managing director Daan Vander Steene. NTGent works with a broad range of creators, including Luanda Casella and Lara Staal, and collectives such as Werktoneel, Ontroerend Goed and WOLF WOLF. Together, they form NTGent’s polyphonic and multifaceted creative house of makers. NTGent’s operations are based on five core values: sustainability, collaboration, transparency, vulnerability and innovation.
