During an exceptional slow-motion performance of “Inhale Delirium Exhale”, elderly painters capture scenes from Miet Warlop's latest show. The public is welcome to take a peek into this very special studio.
Inhale Delirium Exhale - Endless Feelings is the title of the book that visual artist Miet Warlop is preparing. It contains watercolour paintings of scenes from Warlop's latest performance created by elderly painters. An exercise in collective viewing and a way of illustrating presence through the sensitive lens of another generation. Each artist is given one rule: the entire surface of their canvas must be painted — even the lightest shade is part of the work. Register yourself here.
Inhale Delirium Exhale will be performed four times in mid-January to a sold-out NTGent Schouwburg. The day after, the cast will perform a delayed version accompanied by live music. For three hours, the Schouwburg will be transformed into a painter's studio. As a spectator, you are welcome to experience this unique moment from the balconies.
Inhale Delirium Exhale explores the human being as a processor of emotions – an athlete, a labourer, a surface onto which thoughts, feelings, colours and shadows fall. The abstract physicality of the performance, a battle with colourful silk fabrics, finds it echo in the fluid technique of watercolour: colour that refuses containment; matter that eludes definition.
