Plan your visit

How to get here?

Several buses and trams have stops less than ten minutes' walk from our venues. Most trams and buses in Ghent run until 1.30am during the week, and even until 2.15am on Fridays and Saturdays. On Sundays, the last ones run at 11.30pm.

Plan your journey using the official app of De Lijn or the route planner on delijn.be.

Good choice! Our venues can be reached easily by bike. There are many bicycle stands and covered parking spaces closeby. Find an overview here.

If you do come to NTGent by car, there are some things you need to know:

→ All three of our venues are within the Low Emission Zone (LEZ) in Ghent.
→ Leave your car at one of the park-and-rides (P+R) outside the LEZ, and travel to the city centre easily by tram.
→ If you prefer to park closeby, follow the dynamic LED signs to one of the underground car parks in the city centre. Be aware that it's difficult to navigate in the city centre with a lot of one-way streets and roadblocks.

  • Our buildings are wheelchair accessible. Please speak to our staff upon arriving if you require assistance.

→ The NTGent Schouwburg is accessible to wheelchair users via ramps along both entrance sides. The auditorium is accessible via a lift, the available seats (mobile chairs) are located at the back of the parterre. An adapted toilet is available.

→ NTGent Minnemeers and the Minardschouwburg are wheelchair accessible. In Minnemeers the available seats are at the front, in the Minardschouwburg this depends on the exact venue in which the performance is taking place.

→ When booking your ticket, please mention whether you use a normal or electric wheelchair, and whether you wish to sit in your wheelchair during the performance.

→ Please arrive well in advance on the evening itself. The reception staff will help you to your seat.

→ Near our venues, there are several parking spaces for people with disabilities. You will find an overview on this website.

Any questions? Please contact us at publiekswerking@ntgent.be

  • FM loop system:

We provide standard audio support for visitors with hearing impairments at all performances at NTGent Schouwburg and Minnemeers.

With Sennheiser’s MobileConnect system, you can amplify the sound of the performance via your smartphone or hearing aid by scanning a QR code or NFC tag. You can find the QR code at the Accessibility Information Point in the entrance hall.

You can also use a tablet with earphones provided by NTGent.

    Live VGT:

For our in-house productions, we organise at least one performance with a live Flemish Sign Language (VGT) interpreter. These performances are announced on the website and in the programme book.

Questions? Please contact us at maarten.degezelle@ntgent.be.

  • Live Audio Description:

For our new in-house productions, we organise at least two performances with live audio description provided by Priscilla Poldervaart and Selina Van Gool. Keep an eye on the performance page: we’ll announce there when live audio description is available. You can also find the accessible performances in the brochure.

The live audio description works via Sennheiser’s MobileConnect system. The reception staff at the Accessibility Information Point in the entrance hall will be happy to help you.

    Assistance dogs:

Assistance dogs are welcome in our auditoriums. When booking your ticket, please mention if you are accompanied by an assistance dog and/or require assistance from our reception staff.

    Tactile warnings:

There are tactile paving blocks on the steps leading to the public area of our theatre: a tactile warning system for blind and visually impaired people.

Questions? Please contact us via maarten.degezelle@ntgent.be.

  • Resources:

At the Accessibility Information Point in the entrance hall, you can borrow fidget toys, a weighted blanket, noise-cancelling headphones and earplugs. Please feel free to make use of these to ensure you can enjoy the performance in comfort.

    Trigger warnings

We try to be as transparent as possible when a performance contains trigger warnings. For new in-house productions, we aim to publish the trigger warnings on the website no later than the day of the premiere.

If you bought tickets before the trigger warnings were announced and this makes it difficult for you to attend the performance, we will refund your ticket.

    Visual Stories:

A Visual Story is a tool to help understand social cues in the theatre. They can help you assess social situations when you come to watch a theatre performance or take a guided tour.

The Visual Stories were initially developed for children on the autism spectrum, but are free to use by anyone who can benefit.

Would you like to receive a Visual Story? Please contact us at maarten.degezelle@ntgent.be.
