In one of the most historical and moving places in Ghent, El Conde de Torrefiel takes us on a sound walk inside the unique setting of the city of the dead.
Cemeteries are like cities: they are composed of central and peripheral areas, wealthy and poor districts; they host famous and ordinary people. They are dormitory towns made of stone and cement, with buildings and green areas. The doppelgängers of the cities of the living.
As part of the 2025 edition of Europalia, focused on art from Spain, the collective El Conde de Torrefiel created a moving walk in a perturbing and exciting place, characterised by both the presence and the absence of people who lived their lives laughing, talking and shouting.
→ This audio walk is part of Europalia and can be visited during the opening hours of the cemetery.
→ The walk is free, no registration needed. More info later via museum GUM.
