Falstaff
Falstaff
20.05.26 — 20.05.26Five generations of female players form a theatre company that will perform an adaptation of Shakespeare’s Merry Wives of Windsor. On stage and in the wings, they are forced to wrestle with the iconic character Falstaff.
As they try to stage Falstaff’s grotesque plans to seduce two women at once, reality keeps breaking through. Conflicts and confusion are lurking in the wings. Even the stage directions become part of the story.
Falstaff takes a fresh look at a classic and the operas of Verdi, Nicolai and Williams. Directed by Tom Goossens and Elien Hanselaer, and with musical direction by Wouter Deltour, Falstaff unfolds like a veritable theatrical matryoshka. The iconic play is reinvented in a new performance with humour, playful confusion and sharp insights.
