Second Trimester

23.01.27

A cinematic, Bollywood-inspired epic family saga. One Stage. Two Generations. Love triangles. Endless Drama.

Four years ago, Krishna Istha told his mum he was trying to get pregnant and she freaked out. Like, massively freaked out. Krishna didn’t know why. It’s rare for a fight between them to end in tears. But this one did … and for good reason.

In Second Trimester, trans performance artist Krishna Istha and his mother, Geetha Shankar, confront pregnancy, loss, gender, and the weight of inherited memories. Based on a true story, the play asks: how well can you ever really know your parents?

This performance is part of NTGent’s BUS-KRUIT initiative. International theatre tours have an impact on the environment. To minimise this, NTGent is not staging this top-class production in its own venue, but is instead organising a coach trip to a partner theatre – in this case, Kaaitheater in Brussels. Ticket holders can enjoy an introduction to the performance during the coach journey.
