Vondels Angels

In Vondel’s Angels, Sarah Moeremans and Joachim Robbrecht, together with the entire ensemble, descend into the deepest depths of hell. Armed with helmets and headlamps, they take the audience on a descent filled with fire, questions and defiance.

From the flames, they rescue the fallen angels from Vondel’s famous Lucifer, banished for resisting God’s decision to place man above them. Four centuries later, that same man seems to have failed in his responsibility once again.

With fiery words and sharp questions, the angels return. They examine power, morality and human failings in a world once again on the brink. The audience joins them on their comeback tour towards a possible re-evaluation of what justice might still mean.
