On 27 September, we will set the new season alight with Firestarter, a collective fire ritual by Barbara Raes and Alexandra Broeder at a public place in the city. 

Firestarter is the culmination of a long and invisible process with organisations in the cultural world and outside of it: newcomers, graduates, people in mourning, midwives, etc. The question we have for them and for you is: “How can we ignite our inner flame and make space for a new beginning?” 

The firestarters are a group of twenty children on the cusp of puberty. They have undergone an intense process beforehand focusing on this new phase in their lives. During the ritual, they are the firekeepers in the night, who will remain until the last of the flames dies down. 

The audience watches and empathises, also undergoing transformation, and becoming part of the whole event, along with live music by An Pierlé.
