It shall start in the dark. We will greet each other and we will say goodbye. There will be singing and pretending. There will be light and room for darkness. We’ll light candles, we will eat and drink and celebrate our lives. And all of that will end. Welcome.

Because everything is finite and we are going to have to live with that.
The Ontroerend Goed collective, which moves audiences around the world from its base in Ghent, is an artist-in-residence at NTGent and has created, among other works, the succesful Thanks for Being Here at the city theater in recent seasons. Funeral, from 2023, is one of the many gems in Ontroerend Goed’s body of work and was honored with the Fringe First Award at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
