A pair of socks
A Pair of Socks is Par Hasard's first in-house production. Laura Vroom and Mira Bryssinck explore the elasticity of empathy, what exactly is it? What is it like to live without empathy? Or, on the contrary, to feel an excess of empathy? Where does empathy for another begin and where does it stop?
Starting from personal anecdotes, they engage in conversation with people who professionally face the feelings of others (e.g. social workers, politicians, teachers, police officers, philosophers, undertakers). What role does empathy play within their profession and what dilemmas do they find themselves as human beings?
In addition, the makers enter into conversation with young people about what empathy means to them. The outcome of these conversations results in a moving and funny collage performance of characters, stories and movements.
